800 metres of new pavement on Ștefan cel Mare, almost ready for Ungheni's City Days

On Ștefan cel Mare street in Ungheni, the busy stretch between the former biochemical plant and Podurilor street is getting a pavement — the first on this section, according to City Hall: about 800 metres long, 2 metres wide. The work, done by the municipal company «Servicii Comunale Ungheni», has reached its final stretch and should be ready for the city's festival at the end of August; the road markings and the shaping of the shoulder still remain. The pavement is one item on a list of roads the city is paying for in 2026 with money borrowed through municipal bonds.

Bridge to Lake Delia island in Ungheni rebuilt after May flood

Less than three months after Lake Delia overflowed and destroyed the footbridge to Ungheni's leisure island, the Municipality has announced a new cable-stayed suspension bridge with an ash-wood deck and a resurfaced access road. Mayor Vitalie Vrabie inspected the site on 13 August; the aim is for the island to be ready in September. The announcement comes with a safety warning for parents: the bridge "is not a swing." What was rebuilt, how the work fits into the larger waterfront project, and the state of the lake's water.

A new parking lot on Decebal Street in Ungheni: merchants bought the 46,000-lei paving, the city hall paid for the labour

On Decebal Street, across from the former boarding school, a public parking lot is being built through a cofinancing arrangement: nearby merchants and entrepreneurs bought 175 square metres of paving, worth 46,000 lei, while Ungheni City Hall paid for the labour and the other materials. The work, carried out by Servicii Comunale even on a Saturday, addresses a real problem for the town — parking spaces.

Ungheni paves Mihai Viteazul street “from the local budget” — it's on the list for the 10-million loan

On 23 July, Ungheni City Hall announced the repair of Mihai Viteazul street — 500 metres in the Berești-Vasilica neighbourhood — carried out “from the local budget” by the municipal company Servicii Comunale Ungheni. Public records show the street is one of 14 objects on a list the Municipal Council approved in May to be modernised with a 10-million-lei loan raised through municipal bonds; the decision publishes only the overall ceiling and how many metres are to be paved, not the cost of each street. The work is done in-house, without a separate works tender — a lawful model, but one in which the cost of the repair remains, so far, unpublished.

«Were not confirmed»: Ungheni's transport operator finds no double charge and will not say how it checked

Three days after several passengers complained, in the comments under the notice about paying by card on the bus, about multiple charges, SRL «Servicii Comunale Ungheni» announces that it «checked every case reported» and that nothing was confirmed, putting some of the complaints down to «fake profiles». The statement does not say how many cases were checked or by what method, and the questions Triunghi.md sent on 14 July remain unanswered. Under the notice, a woman from Ungheni keeps asking where the journeys on the travel card have gone.

Ungheni's transport operator says double-charging is impossible. Its own website promises less — and nowhere does it say how you get your money back

Under the official notice about paying by card on the bus, people in Ungheni say they were charged twice and three times over, and one passenger says he paid 28 lei for a 6-lei ride. The operator guarantees on Facebook that «it is impossible to be charged twice». On its own portal, the guarantee is far narrower. We read the regulation approved by the local council, the operator's contract and the payment services law: the procedure by which a wrongly charged passenger gets their money back is written nowhere — but the law gives them firm deadlines, both with the operator and with the bank.

Two more streets paved in Ungheni Vale, „from the local budget”. One is on the 10-million-lei road list, funded by debt

Ungheni City Hall announced on Friday that it had paved two more streets in the Ungheni Vale neighbourhood — Arcașii lui Ștefan and Suceava, 850 metres, „from the City Hall budget”. One of them, Arcașii lui Ștefan, appears however on the list of roads that the Municipal Council approved in May to be modernised from the 10-million-lei loan raised through municipal bonds — money that the people of Ungheni will repay, with interest. The decision publishes only the total ceiling, not how much each street costs.

Burebista Street in Ungheni: paving begins on a second, 700-metre section, funded from the local budget

On the very day the 1 July deadline cited for the 10.3-million-lei project ran out, Mayor Vitalie Vrabie said the “Europe Is Close” works are continuing, while the city hall separately began paving a second section of Burebista Street — more than 700 metres between Petru Rareș and Zamfir Arbore, from the local budget. Arcașii lui Ștefan and Mihai Viteazul streets are next.

770 metres of pavement with a bike lane on Ștefan cel Mare: a busy Ungheni street will finally have a sidewalk end to end

On a busy stretch of Ștefan cel Mare street in Ungheni — from the former biochemical plant to Podurilor street — a pavement is being built for the first time: 770 metres, with a bike lane, after which the street will have a sidewalk along its whole length. The work is done by the municipal company «Servicii Comunale Ungheni», and it is one item on a list of roads the city is financing in 2026 with borrowed money, through municipal bonds — while residents of other streets are asking for pavements too.
